Rochdale Borough Council doubles numbers giving to charity

Rochdale Borough Council had doubled the number of staff giving to charity since joining the Geared for Giving campaign and re-launching its Workplace Giving scheme.

Roger Ellis, Chief Executive of Rochdale Borough Council, responded to a letter from MP Anne Snelgrove urging councils across the UK to support the Geared for Giving campaign and help charities raise extra money by making all donations tax effective.

Roger Ellis, Chief Executive said the organisation was delighted to support the scheme: ‘I’m really pleased with the success of Workplace Giving so far. We have been encouraging all staff to use it to support their chosen charity.’

Rochdale Borough Council’s re-launch of the scheme began in April and since then, not only has the number of employees giving to charity doubled, but the amount given to charities has increased by nearly £15,000 with 63 local and national charities benefitting.
